Our Story
WDJM-FM is the student-run radio station at Framingham State University, broadcasting at 91.3 MHz. Established in 1970, the station has a long history of offering a variety of programming, from classic rock and hip-hop to sports ect. The station was initially known as WFSB but changed its call sign in 1973 to honor the university’s then-president, D. Justin McCarthy. WDJM has played a vital role in student life, giving DJs creative control over their shows while also serving the broader Framingham community(

WDJM operates with a 100-watt power output, a level it has maintained since 1984. The station aims to foster student creativity and provide hands-on broadcasting experience. Alongside its music programming, WDJM partners with the Talking Information Center, broadcasting accessible content for the visually impaired during off-air hours. In 2011, the station expanded its reach by launching an online stream, allowing listeners worldwide to tune in to its diverse content(

In recent years, WDJM has explored the possibility of transitioning to an entirely online format. This shift is being considered to reduce regulatory burdens and maintenance costs associated with FM broadcasting. As of 2023, the station is conducting a trial run of operating as an internet-only platform, with ongoing discussions about its long-term strategy(DBpedia Association)(Wikipedia).
